Base - SQLite Editor App Reviews

Useless manual

I have yet to to make this application work... When asked for help I was shown to the same help file which is not helpful at all... A simple "how to" would be nice.

Great app and worth the price

At first I was hesitant on spending $29 for this app but it has saved me significantly in developement time. Im using Base to clean up data for several iOS applications. There might be other sqlite tools out there but Base is the fastest and simplest db tool Ive found.

Great compliement to CoreData development

Developing apps with CoreData use to be a pain before I decided to pony up for this app. When something wasnt working right in an app I was working on I would have to type lots of extra debugging code to output the contents of my database. Now I just fire up Base and open the CoreData sqlite file directly to poke around and see what went amis. It has helped my workflow immensely. Thanks guys, keep up the great work!

Nice, simple SQLite interface

This performs as advertised. Well done. I only wish it would allow for multiple windows (I frequently jump between multiple custom queries to compare results, debug SQL, etc. and thats a hassle with this app). Also, while the app lets you export the query results to a file, which works fine, I wish I could just cut and paste the entire results to another app (e.g. Excel or Numbers).

Amazing tool!!

When dealing with .sqlite DBs, Base is a top notch native application. Effective, powerful, and capable of complex tasks is what Base is all about. As the technical support lead of a mobile development company having Base in my Dock is an absolute must! If you need a reliable tool for managing/manipulating your .sqlite DBs then look no further, Base is the answer :) Keep up the great work Menial!

Everything you need and more including auto-complete.

Love it.

Great app!

Ive easily saved *days* of database manipulation by having this tool. The import/export tools in and out of CSV are super super handy! Handles tables with nearly 3 million rows like a champ! I would love to be able to sort results on the SQL tab after I run a query, but otherwise no complaints!

Really nice tool, robust, easy to use and fast.

Great for: -Quickly navigating both the schema objects and the data. -Testing SQL and modeling different schema approaches. -Reporting, I have saved a lot of time grinding on spreadsheets. The only constraints I have found is: -it does not support the SQLite dot commands ( i.e. .HEADERS , .MODE). I would believe this is intentional as it would make exporting SQL results much -more complex, but it would be nice if there was a way. -You cannot copy all of the data in SQL results tab, you can select individual rows or export to CSV. It would be really nice to command C the entire result set and paste into another document.

Powerful SQLite Browser

Ive been using Base for the last few months and Im loving it. Perfect for browsing large databases and testing out SQL queries.

Reliable, dependable

Have been using this app for the past year or so to help with my development efforst. Works just fine, no issues at all throughout. Smooth, quiet … just how apps should be. Well worth it.

It works. well.

Developing my first iOS app… This thing saved me days, if not weeks. Its the Rosetta stone of data.

Excellent

This is an excellent tool for sqlite management, and a must-have for app development. I use it for software development on a daily basis.

Current version 2.4 crashes on OS X 10.7

Dont bother wasting your money until they get this fixed. Spent $30 for this app to crash every time. There is no support on their website other than an email address you can send your problems to.

Crashes on 107.5, won

Simply doesnt work. At $30, this is a rip-off and Ill be requesting a refund.

Worth the Money

Now I can perform database tasks without php/MySQL! Base makes handling large tables a snap, and displays a line progress count so you arent left wondering whats going on. Ive only had one crash, and that was caused by me attempting to do something that wouldnt have worked anyway. One suggestion… include the column headings in exported csv files containing data resulting from SQL commands. This is a great app Im going to be using a lot.

Latest Version feels Quirky

Theres some problems that Ive been running into in the latest version that are frustrating to get around. For example, if theres an error in the SQL, the app warns you, but you cant dismiss the dialog, which means you have to quit the entire app. Theres abundnant quirkiness when creating tables (field names not being saved, not remembering column attributes); so much so that I finally gave up and did it via commandline. So its a nice app for viewing your data and simple interaction, but not for playing around with SQL statements or anything advanced. Which is unfortunate, because I really, really, really like the app.

Not bad

The app itself is pretty good, but Ive lost several sql statements because I had an error in the syntax. The app reported the error, but I couldnt get past the dialog to correct it. I had to exit the app, and consequently abandon the query. I then had to restart the app and start over. Very infuriating for a relatively simple problem. Just dismiss the dialog so we can move on. To me, this is a serious problem that should be fixed right away.

Best SQLite App out there

I dont normally post reviews but I just had to post one about Base. I am an App developer who uses SQLite on a daily basis and Base has become nearly as important to me as Xcode. It is extradinarily easy to use, powerful, intuitive, and the support is fantastic. In fact, I loved it so much I bought two copies so that I could use it at work and at home for private use. Dont let the price scare you, it is well worth it!

Needs more work

Keeps losing its pointer to table. Returns errors that dont exist during queries. When you exit software and run again, its fine for a few minutes. I am running this on Mountain Lion so that may be the issue.

Excellent tool for sqlite databases.

I’m a developer and I occasionally need to view my databases. This tool is exactly like what I would have written if it didn’t already exist. It is very intuitive.
